How will I save money using Family Directed services?

Caregivers work for you, and you set the care budget. Tell us your needs, the schedule, and what you can afford. Family Directed will then present you profiles of qualified caregivers that match your care requirements and are within your specified salary range.

Family Directed also greatly reduces the cost that traditional agencies charge – potentially saving you thousands of dollars each year.

Who does the caregiver work for?

Family Directed makes it easy for you to hire the right caregiver and manage the care. It’s your decision if the caregiver is a household employee or a contractor.

You own the relationship with your caregiver. You use the Family Directed mobile app to manage schedules, track caregiver clock-ins and clock-outs, and approve payments.

How does Family Directed reduce paperwork and make payments easy?

Family Directed and our preferred payments partner, LTCPayroll, help organize and prepare (with digital signatures) all the paperwork when you decide to engage a caregiver.

We give you access to our mobile app so you can manage schedules, track caregiver clock-ins and clock-outs, and approve payments. Our team will be there every step of the way.

What’s involved in a caregiver background check?

Every caregiver you’re matched with has completed a thorough background check. This includes:

— A seven year criminal background check with national, state, and county authorities.

— Check with sex offender and Department of Health and Human Services healthcare sanctions registries

− Validate their Social Security number.

How can a non-medical caregiver help at home?

Professional caregivers for non-medical home care can offer a variety of much needed services.

Personal care can range from helping a client get dressed to making sure they’re able to move around the home safely and comfortably.

Caregivers will also help keep the home tidy with light housekeeping and laundry.

Outside the home, caregivers can make sure you or your loved one is part of the community by providing transportation to events, running errands, or visiting a doctor.

Professional caregivers can also be there to simply listen or share a good story with companion care.

Are there things I cannot ask my caregiver to do?

Family Directed helps families find caregivers to assist individuals with tasks of daily life. Caregivers work with clients because of age, physical limitations, or cognitive impairment.

Caregivers hired through Family Directed cannot provide these health services:

  • Administering medication: This includes: herbs, supplements, injections, oxygen, dialysis, and IV infusions.
  • Post-op rehab: Home care providers are not trained in physical therapy. However, they can help individuals follow an exercise or therapy program provided by a doctor or physical therapist.
  • Taking and recording vital signs: Temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
  • Providing medical care: Family Directed caregivers cannot help with feeding tubes, ventilators, tracheotomy care, catheter/colostomy management, wound care, or diagnose medical conditions.
  • Other: Any service that is governed by a licensure requirement in the state that the client resides.

How do I pay my caregiver through Family Directed?

You use the Family Directed mobile app to manage schedules, track caregiver clock-ins and clock-outs, and approve payments.

Each week you receive a weekly summary of the caregivers time recordings. Then, you will approve their payment.

Our integrated payroll provider, LTCPayroll, will make sure your payment is sent quickly and securely.

Funds are drawn from the client’s account or credit cards on Wednesday, and direct deposited into the caregiver’s account on Friday.
